Chanel S.A. is a fashion house founded in 1910 by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel. Chanel revolutionized the fashion world with her simple yet elegant designs, which have a timeless appeal. She was among the first designers to introduce pants for women and is widely credited with creating the iconic "little black dress." Coco Chanel retained creative control over the company until her passing in 1971, after which Karl Lagerfeld took over as chief designer in 1983.
Chanel also revolutionized the perfume industry with its first fragrance, the iconic Chanel N°5, launched in 1921. This perfume remains a global bestseller, maintaining its modern appeal through innovative marketing and celebrity endorsements. Chanel N°5 and many of the house’s classic fragrances were crafted by perfumer Ernest Beaux. Since 1978, Jacques Polge has served as the in-house perfumer for Chanel, continuing the brand's legacy of creating enduring fragrances.
