Sweet fragrances are those that are immediately recognizable and unforgettable. Vanilla, caramel, praline, tonka bean: these are enveloping scents that create a close, almost edible, even addictive trail. They are gourmet without being heavy, they transcend seasons and are suitable for both everyday wear and evening events. At Amaru Paris, our sweet fragrance samples allow you to test them on your skin before making a decision.
What is a sweet fragrance?
A sweet fragrance belongs to the large gourmand family, born in the 90s with Thierry Mugler's Angel and widely developed ever since. What defines them are soft, warm, and edible notes (vanilla, caramel, almond, chocolate, candied fruits) often laid on a powdery or amber base that gives them longevity. Modern sweet scents are far from simple gourmandise: the best versions play on contrast, by incorporating a woody, musky, or even slightly smoky note to avoid cloyingness. The result is sensorial.
How to choose your sweet fragrance sample?
Not all sweet scents are alike. Some are light and fruity, almost airy. Others are dense and creamy, centered around vanilla or caramel, with a trail that lasts all day.

The best sweet fragrances
Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford
Tobacco Vanille is the sweet scent that fully embraces what it is. The vanilla here is generous, almost gourmand, but the blond tobacco gives it a depth that avoids cloyingness. It's far from a pastry vanilla; it's warmer than that, drier at times, with soft spices that elevate the whole. It's the kind of perfume you put on an autumn evening and end up wearing all year because you can't get enough of it.
Bianco Latte by Giardini di Toscana
It's hard not to smile when smelling Bianco Latte by Giardini di Toscana for the first time. Warm milk, creamy softness, something that evokes childhood without being naive. The musk envelops everything, and the result is remarkably balanced sweetness. No excessive sugar, no floral notes to muddle the waters. Just that sensation of clean, milky skin that we sometimes look for in sweet scents but rarely find so well executed.
Bake by Akro
Bake doesn't pretend. It's a lemon cupcake in a bottle, with zesty lemon in the opening, praline and whipped cream at the heart, and Bourbon vanilla and brown sugar in the base. The lemon cuts through the sweetness, giving it dimension. Olivier Cresp, the perfumer behind Mugler's Angel, knows better than anyone the balance between gourmand and wearable. Here he proves it. A generous, honest sweet scent that smells exactly as advertised.
Ilham by SoOud
Ilham opens with caramel: bold, immediate, almost provocative. But behind it, the pyramid is much more complex than that: saffron, leather, pink pepper, cypriol, and a base of oud, benzoin, and vanilla that gives the sweetness an unexpected depth. It's an oriental sweet scent, designed by Stéphane Humbert Lucas, which plays on the tension between gourmand and mysterious. It doesn't resemble Western sweet scents because it is denser, warmer, more inhabited. It is perfect for those who love sweetness.
When to wear a sweet fragrance?
Sweet fragrances are often perceived as evening or winter scents. But contemporary formulas have greatly broadened the spectrum: a light, well-balanced sweet scent works perfectly for everyday wear, at the office, or even in summer when it plays on fruity and fresh notes. The real rule is concentration: a sweet Eau de Parfum is worn differently than an extract. This is also why the sample format is useful, as it allows you to test not only the scent, but also how it performs on your skin, in your real-world conditions.
