Zenne by Nishane is a floral amber fragrance for women and men. Zenne was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Jorge Lee. Top notes are blackcurrant, rhubarb, and grapefruit; middle notes are Turkish rose, gardenia, and sandalwood; base notes are vanilla, ambergris, and musk. For the "SHADOW PLAY" collection, launched in 2017, Nishane drew its inspiration primarily from traditional shadow puppetry, also known as shadow puppetry, an ancient form of storytelling and entertainment that uses cut-out, articulated figures (shadow puppets) held between a light source and a screen or translucent canvas. The cut-out shapes of the puppets are sometimes colored or decorated with other details. Different effects can be achieved by moving the puppets and the light source. A talented puppeteer can make the characters appear to walk, dance, fight, nod, and laugh. KARAGOZ (meaning "black eye" in Turkish) and HACIVAT (short for "Hacı İvaz," meaning "İvaz the pilgrim"), ZENNE (the common name for the women, usually beautiful and coquettish, who appear in various plays, are the main characters of traditional Turkish shadow puppetry, popularized during the Ottoman era and later spread throughout most of the Ottoman Empire, including Turkey and Greece). Artistic directors Mert Güzel and Murat Katran dreamed of transposing the legend of Karagoz and Hacivat into the modern world. Inspired by their mischievous characters, the fragrance trilogy was created in collaboration with perfumer Jorge Lee. Reflecting the theme of these shadow puppet shows, NISHANE's main objective was to highlight the contrasting interactions between peoples present in every culture.
